Ons eerste hike was 8 kilometer ver, al die pad vanaf Hawkshead na Tarn Hows en van daar af Coniston toe. Dis beskryf in ons gids-pamflet as: "An excellent walk over the fields and up through the woods to Tarn Hows - one of the most spectacular beauty spots in the whole of the Lake District".
